That is so true! I found some of our old television commercials from the 80's/90's on YouTube - what a trip back in time! I also find that when I have been away from the airline for a while and then step onboard there is a familiar smell - Eau-de-Boeing we call it , that smell of the aircraft cabin that is similiar with a lot of old Boeings.

View the commercial on YouTube by entering >You Should See Us Now Australian Airlines Ad< and also >Australian Airlines Ad "Way We Do The Things We Do"<

Let me know what you think!

Did IF have any TV advertising? I have found the "Traumzeit" video clip on YouTube - does anyone know of any other links?

Kilo Mike Sierra hat geschrieben:As far as the sound is concerned, an Antonov An-12 would be the perfect stand-in. Since it uses the same engine type and airscrew type, its sound is virtually the same.
...but as Flieger Bernd said, Il-18 rules.

I can hear the AN-12 sound very often. It's a great sound and the same like the IL-18. You can hear and see the Antonov a long time after take-off.

A bit like a Trabant - you hear it then you see it then you smell it! Ha Ha

This is my pride and joy - Oskar, so far he's the only road going trabant in Australia, there are two in pieces in South Australia and one Kubelwagen in Sydney that is for static display only. He proudly sports an Interflug sticker on his rear window!

I hope these are a little better quality - these pictures were taken for one of our largest motoring magazines - "Unique Cars". They did a six page story and photo shoot on the Trabi. The story was very entertaining!

Neil, what is your next project?
Would you consider bringing a Tu-134 to Australia?
Imagine, you could own or even operate* the only Tupolev south of Cape York.

*) I doubt it.

Mein Auto kann ich innerhalb von 5 Minuten komplett "aufladen" (sogar überall unterwegs) und komme damit ca. 700 km weit.

Nice pictures. If you had published them in Germany you would have been in a lot of trouble.
